When it comes to selecting your perfect security camera, you may not know where to start. Well, I’ve done my research, tested all the cameras, and written about what I believe are the best cameras out there. If you’ve ever read any of my camera reviews, you know that I hold all my cameras up to the Security Baron Necessary Features Test, which makes sure that they’re up to my high standards in terms of video, audio, night vision, storage, smart platform integrations, artificial intelligence, convenience, and value. After many months of reviewing different cameras from top brands like Arlo and Canary, I’m ready to show you the best security cameras of 2019. I love the Nest Cam Indoor— obviously, or I wouldn’t have named it my best camera!Video wise, the Nest Cam impresses with 1080p HD display, a wide 130 degree field of view and the ability to zoom in eight times. The night vision is similarly clear with eight infrared LED sensors, and the camera comes equipped with two way audio. Not only does two way audio let you speak to whoever you’re recording, which can be an easy way to talk to family members from afar, but it’s also a great way to scare away intruders as a last ditch effort. You’d be scared too if a disembodied voice came screaming out at you to get out of their house! On a more negative note, the camera’s night vision wasn’t quite as clear as I’d like it to be. While the box said you’d be able to see for 15 feet, things got blurry for me at 10. However, I am quite pleased with the camera’s two way audio and smart platform integrations, which include Amazon Alexa, Fire TV, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. It’s hard to find a camera that integrates with Apple HomeKit, as its one of the less popular smart home automations, so I like that the Circle 2 really gives you options here.

Hiring a house sitter and setting up a security system are two very complementary steps you can take to keeping your home safe when you’re away. Your home automated system can make up for the human errors of which your house sitter may be guilty. Your house sitter is an intimidating presence to burglars and intruders who prey on empty houses. But you have to remember that you’re very familiar with your home, and all of its quirks—your house sitter is not. Don’t assume that she’ll know all the tricks and protocol you do. Here are instructions to give your house sitter so she can keep your home safe. Mention finicky locks Are there any finicky locks in your home?Maybe the deadbolt on the back door only shuts if you pull the door tight and flush with the frame. Maybe a simple knob lock can unlock if not turned entirely vertically. These finicky locks can leave your home vulnerable if your house sitter doesn’t know how to manipulate them. Mention windows/doors that don’t close entirely You may have some windows… Read moreDogs are a man’s best friend, but they can also be a man’s security guard.
